ABOUT ACCRINGTON GARAGES
The story of Accrington Garages began in July 1993, when Manchester-based businessman Wal Singh took over the well-established local dealership. After leaving his role as General Manager for a major North West motoring group, Wal set out to build a family-run business founded on experience, integrity and exceptional customer service.
Having started his career as an apprentice mechanic and worked his way through the service and parts departments of the motor trade, he brought invaluable hands-on knowledge and leadership to the venture.
Under Wal’s ownership, the dealership quickly established itself as one of the most successful Vauxhall retailers in the Lancashire area. A strong emphasis was placed on staff development, training and consistently delivering an outstanding customer experience - principles that remain at the heart of the business today.
In 1999, Wal’s eldest son Jag joined as a Sales Consultant. Demonstrating natural ability and drive, he was soon promoted to Sales Manager and, in 2012, assumed the role of Aftersales Manager. During his career, Jag gained extensive industry expertise and became a Member of the Institute of the Motor Industry (M.I.M.I.), further strengthening the dealership’s leadership and technical knowledge.
In 2002, Wal’s youngest son Moni joined the business as an Accounts Clerk within the Finance Department. During this time, he achieved honours in AAT and CIMA before transitioning into the Sales Department. Over the years, Moni progressed through a variety of key roles including Sales Consultant, Business Manager and Sales Manager, before ultimately becoming General Manager.
The year 2013 marked the arrival of the third generation, as Wal’s eldest grandson Sonu joined the business at just 16 years old after achieving an A* in Business Studies. Keen to contribute, he gained experience across the Parts, Sales and Service departments, developing a well-rounded understanding of the dealership’s operations.
In 2018, the dealership was honoured with the Motability Dealer Award by Motability Operations in recognition of achieving the highest standards in customer satisfaction.
A year later, in 2019, Wal’s second grandson Krish joined the business in a Sales and Marketing role after achieving a double distinction in higher education. His expertise in digital platforms and social media has helped the dealership successfully evolve within an increasingly digital marketplace.
2021 marked a historic milestone when the dealership was shortlisted for the prestigious Automotive Management (AM) Awards, widely regarded as the “Oscars” of the motor trade. Competing alongside dealers representing all vehicle manufacturers, the family-run business not only secured a nomination but went on to win the award for Best in Customer Service.
In 2025, celebrating its 32nd year, the business expanded its new car offering by introducing FIAT and Abarth to its portfolio. The addition of these iconic marques enabled the dealership to broaden its range while remaining true to its core values of quality, integrity and customer satisfaction.
Today, Accrington Garages is proud to be recognised as one of Lancashire’s leading Vauxhall, Fiat and Abarth retailers - a genuine family-run business where three generations work side by side to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
This dedication has been consistently acknowledged by Vauxhall, with the dealership being crowned Vauxhall Customer Excellence Award winners for 11 consecutive years, from 2015 through to 2025 - a testament to the passion, commitment and standards upheld by the entire family and team.
