Kirsty Gallacher helps fans roar for lionesses.

Broadcaster Kirsty Gallacher has become an honourary Lioness this summer as she creates a series of rousing chants for the England women’s football team. Kirsty is joining forces with Vauxhall Motors to encourage the nation to get behind the women’s team ahead of a summer of football.

Football fan Kirsty Gallacher launches the chants as part of Vauxhall Motors’ #GetIN campaign to rally fans to make some noise this summer for their team before they head off to play in the Netherlands.

As official sponsor of the national football teams, Vauxhall Motors launched #GetIN to help fans to show support for their teams, celebrate the spirit of football and give fans one off experiences and real #GetIN moments. The fun chants, penned by Kirsty Gallacher, were filmed and recorded in Abbey Road studio for fans to listen to and include a chant for the whole team:They are a team of champions.

They are our national prideThey are a team of warriors

Watch our Lionesses stride

Kirsty Gallacher said, “We are all extremely proud of the England team and are hoping to witness something special this summer. It was a lot of fun putting the chants together, but I wanted to ensure that we did the Lionesses justice. Like all football chants they needed to be able to rouse a crowd and I hope that they help inspire the public to get behind the Lionesses this summer.”

Individual chants were also created by Kirsty for England heroes Karen Carney, Fran Kirby and Laura Bassett. Vauxhall Motors took each player back to their roots to capture their chants at a place which helped them during their journey to wearing their nation’s football shirt. Winger Karen Carney went back to her hometown Solihull where she started her footballing career at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre. Stencilled onto the local football ground, her chant is:

Kaz Carney playin’ on the wing

Quick footed skill is her thing

Makes us chant makes us sing

Kaz Carney playin’ on the wing!

Fran Kirby returned to Caversham Park Primary where she went to school and first discovered her love of football:

You better start early

To keep up with Kirby

A jinking run, a perfect pass

She’s a player of pure class!

Defender Laura Bassett revisited Bulkington Sports and Social, the football ground where she started her career:

Watch out Bassett’s about

Watch out Bassett’s about

Your attack will get caught out

Cos Bassett’s about!

”We wanted to do something that encourages the public to get behind the women’s team and we think Kirsty’s chants do just that” said Cheryl Stibbs, Sponsorship Marketing Manager at Vauxhall Motors. “A summer of football gives us a lot of reasons to make some noise and really support the team. Hopefully the team can give us lots of #GetIN moments for the fans to celebrate together. The women’s team are set to do better than ever and we’re supporting them every step of the way.”
